CelebratING Mustang Staff
HUGE thanks to ANN CLUXTON & JOSH ROBINSON for continuing to promote and support the positive referral program. Students need our encouragement now more than ever! Thank you for taking the time to recognize these students!
JEN MAYERIK: She's a rockstar! She's a team player and contributes so much to our department. She's dedicated and hard-working. Plus she's killing this whole remote learning thing all while having 3 kids under 5 at home :-)
Kathy Wonsowski, Michael Pero, Patty Marszalek, Lacy Bugielski & Drew Ludwig: Taking time out of their busy week to help Pat and I interview our 48 students for their positions within their VEI firms. The kids loved the experience.
DEANS ASSISTANT: Daily the DA's are called upon to assist with random tasks or projects. I have yet to hear one of them complain about what is being asked of them. They are kindly taking on all requests with class. Thank you for all that you are doing and giving the building your max effort.
MEREDITH JORDAN, AMANDA BRIGGS, CRAIG TOMCZAK: The PE department, under the leadership of Amanda, Meredith, and Craig have taken on the daunting task of providing regular SEL instruction for our students. DIANE HENDIX: Taking this all in stride! Stepping up with an extra class to cover a colleague. AND most impressively continuing to learn new and innovative ways to not only teach but keep TEACHER SANITY. Her latest trick. Folders on the Bookmark bar that open up all the tabs you need for that one class! No more opening tons of tabs to get started. One click wonder. Thank you for sharing your learning to make us all better.
JEREMY DOMBRO: Jumping in to take on an extra course - one that he isn't currently already teaching :0 - to assist our colleague on paternity leave. Extra on top of and so appreciated.!! Thank you Jeremy and all of math.
ANGELA KELLOGG: Words don't cut it! a thank you isn't enough. Angie's selfless, caring being has gone above and beyond to take care of 5 additional classes of kiddos in our math department as one of our team members under goes major surprise surgery. She has gone above and beyond checking in with the student and really helped me out when it is difficult to communicate via zoom. I don't know where I would be without her assistance in every class. Both myself and the student are extremely grateful for her kindness and support!

Together, we are able to differentiate work and get students the help they need! I am so grateful for our Teaching Assistants! THANK YOU!!
JESSICA THOMAS: Words cannot express what an amazing leader Jess has been this year. She has created a truly collaborative environment where we are able to create together, but we are also not afraid to be honest about our needs and struggles. Thank you for working so hard for all of us!
CASEY SOLGOS: This year I'm teaching a class that is totally new to me, and I couldn't do it without Casey. His knowledge on the subject is honestly inspiring. I hope that one day I'm as wise as he is. Thank you for sharing your vast archive of material and for your willingness to give up one of your prep periods to meet and plan.
ZHIWEN ZHANG: Her words are very cheerful and uplifting to our math class. Even though Zoom classrooms can feel awkward, it doesn't stop her from mixing her passion for math with the drive she has for her students to succeed.

No matter how many times a student doesn't respond or doesn't accept her invitation for help, Nikki continues to leave the door open and continues to offer help. Thank you, Nikki, for all your hard work on behalf of our hardest to reach students, and thank you for refusing to ever give up on any of your students. You have made a very real and lasting difference in the lives of many of our students this semester.

LIZ MAIN: For allowing me to push into her Mustang Mastery and help a student go from about 6% to 60% in a couple of weeks time. She also shared information and messages with the student to help keep us on track. Liz works so hard for the students in her program and not just to help them with the course they take for Mustang Mastery, but for all their courses.
MIRANDA KAY: Miranda made a quick video tutorial helping set up Google Classrooms for 2nd semester and syncing each period's attendance from Synergy. Thanks Miranda! Hope you don't mind, but I included the link to your video tutorial below :-)
KEVIN GARBIS: Let's take a moment to recognize Kevin Garbis as a diamond in the rough. No matter teacher or student, when you're working with him, you feel valued. That, now, more than ever before, is probably the most important thing we can teach others to do, and he leads by example.
CHERYL BRAND: Congratulations to Cheryl Brand on being named the PTSA January Tireless Teacher! Nominated by two different families in the same month!
ANDREA HALLAM: Today Andrea's coding students were walking her through how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. As the steps were given to her by one group the chat was exploding with comments. The laughter through zoom was heard in the comments from "this feels like a worse twitch chat", "omg dude that had me dying", "class became very fun all of a sudden", and "this is by far the best class I have ever been to". What a great way to start the first week of hybrid learning!
ERIN DRUFKE: Shout out to Erin for creating a ton of extra materials for our AP Lang kids. She created a whole slide deck with links to different videos reviewing key skills from our last unit.

CHERYL WALTON: Cheryl treats all students (and staff!) with respect, with confidence in their abilities, and with delight in their characters. What a joy she is to work with!
Sara Wojtasik: Sara constantly goes above and beyond for our team and our students. Sometimes, she creates the slides for the entire week for our team. She is creative and seeks out new ideas for our lessons. She is a tech WHIZ, always volunteering to put together videos or bring in new ideas. She is proactive, kind, and smart. Sara is an AMAZING person and educator, and we are so lucky to have her in our department!
JOSH ROBINSON: Josh coordinated over a dozen volunteers to give mock job interviews to 350 English 2 and American Society students last week! Like everything else this year, we had to find ways to re-think and re-imagine how we would do this -- and Josh organized the people and the logistics to make sure this went off without a hitch, so we could provide our students with a valuable experience that will benefit them well beyond their years at MV. Thanks, Josh!
LYNN KORKOWSKI Lynn has been a silent partner in yearbook, helping us out with late pickups all year. I truly appreciate her using some time to help me continue to get yearbooks out to those families who paid and hadn't yet received them. She is a queen for all of her work, and then to additionally help me out! I'm eternally grateful.
